Ryan Vaughan
Varsity Head Coach
Coach Ryan Vaughan is entering his fifth year at Stony Point High School and his seventh year coaching at the high school level. He began his coaching career with two seasons at Del Valle High School before joining the Tiger Baseball program.
During his time at Stony Point, Coach Vaughan has served in several roles throughout the program, including freshman coach, junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant coach. After spending the past several years working with and developing players at every level, he is excited to step into his new role as the Varsity Head Baseball Coach and lead the Tiger Baseball program into its next chapter.
In addition to baseball, Coach Vaughan has also contributed to the Stony Point football program as the varsity wide receivers coach and a junior varsity assistant coach.
Baseball has been a major part of Coach Vaughan’s life since he began playing at three years old. His playing career took him from Pony League and select baseball to Crockett High School, where he earned unanimous First-Team All-District honors as an outfielder, First-Team honors as a pitcher and a spot on the prestigious All-Centex roster.
He continued his baseball career at the University of Texas Permian Basin before transferring to Sul Ross State University. The experiences, relationships and lessons he gained throughout his playing career continue to shape the way he coaches and develops young athletes today.
Coach Vaughan and his wife, Rebecca, an accomplished registered nurse, are the proud parents of Cooper and Vivienne. His family remains at the center of everything he does, and their love and support are an important part of his coaching journey.
Coach Vaughan is passionate about building a program centered on hard work, accountability, player development and pride in representing Stony Point High School. He is excited to work alongside the players, coaching staff, families and Booster Club as Tiger Baseball prepares to compete, grow and reach new heights.

Gilberto Herrera
Assistant Coach
This is my 20th year in Education overall, and the 8th year coaching at Stony Point and 5th year coaching baseball. I am a Physical Education teacher and also the Assistant Linebackers Coach for Football as well as Head JV Football Coach.
I was born and raised in Austin, TX and graduated from McCallum High School, where I played football and baseball. I attended Texas State University in San Marcos, where I received a Bachelors in Exercise and Sports Science and also received a Masters in Educational Leadership.
Prior to joining the baseball staff, I coached Soccer at Stony Point; worked 11 years at the middle school level in Round Rock ISD at CD Fulkes and Hopewell; and one year in Austin ISD at Northeast Early College (formerly Reagan High School).
My hobbies include attending sporting events as well as jogging, swimming, and working out. I enjoy coaching baseball as it is my first true love of sports, and had a lot of playing experience growing up. I enjoy coaching this group of players in the baseball program at Stony Point!
Brandon Targac
Assistant Coach
Coach Brandon Targac joins Stony Point with two years of baseball coaching experience and a passion for developing hardworking, accountable student-athletes. Before coming to Stony Point, he served as a teaching aide at Dailey Middle School in Del Valle ISD. He currently teaches CTE Business and also coaches JV football.
A native of Katy, Texas, Coach Targac attended Katy High School, where he played first base for the Tigers. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Coach Targac’s philosophy is built on hard work, respect and competition. He believes success comes from consistent effort, discipline and a commitment to improving every day. He expects his athletes to be accountable and give their best in practice, competition and the classroom. He also encourages players to embrace competition as an opportunity to overcome adversity while developing confidence, teamwork, leadership and resilience.
Coach Targac hopes to bring positive energy, strong leadership and a winning mindset to Tiger Baseball. His goal is to create an environment where players are challenged, supported and held accountable while developing both as athletes and young men. He especially enjoys building relationships with his players, learning what motivates them and helping them recognize what they can accomplish through effort and discipline.
Outside of coaching, Coach Targac enjoys watching sports, fishing, spending time on the lake and being with his friends, family and girlfriend of five years.
His favorite quote comes from Nolan Ryan: “One of the beautiful things about baseball is that every once in a while you come into a situation where you want to, and where you have to, reach down and prove something.”
